From the austere opening Russia under the Mongolian Yoke through the rousing Battle on the Ice Field of the Dead to the triumphant Alexanders Entry into Pskov, Prokofievs score blends Slavic chant-like themes, powerful brass fanfares, and stirring choral writing. Soukupovs dark, resonant alto and Anerls taut, rhythmic conducting make this Supraphon recording a landmark of Russian 20th-century repertoire.Track ListingRussia under the Mongolian YokeSong about Alexander NevskyThe Crusaders in PskovRise up, you, Russian People!Battle on the Ice Field of the DeadAlexanders Entry into PskovKey CreditsComposer:Sergei S.
